About Yoga Nidra
In today’s busy world, Yoga Nidra is becoming a highly appreciated tool for rejuvenation. Yoga Nidra or ‘yogic sleep’ is a guided meditation designed to bring the practitioner into such a deeply relaxed state that it is often experienced as “a conscious state of sleep.” The results are tremendous calmness and clarity. It has been experienced and described as “the most powerful relaxation technique known to man” and it is certainly a favorite of many of our current students. We invite you to come in and decide for yourself!
What To Expect
After 10-15 minutes of breathing exercises and 10-15 minutes of light asana (moving and stretching the body), you will have 30-45 minutes to lie on your mat in a fully supported relaxation pose. During this time you will be guided through various visualization and body scanning techniques.
“Limbs limp, breath quiet, thoughts drifting by. In the distance, the teacher’s voice blends with the sound of Tibetan bells. All traces of the day fade away, time stops, and stillness washes over me. So this is Yoga Nidra! ”
- Stephanie Levin-Gervasi -
During a typical class, teachers use a variety of techniques, including guided imagery and body scanning, to aid relaxation. Within the 45 minutes of guided Yoga Nidra practice, practitioners have enough time to physiologically and psychologically sink into the deeply nourishing state in which the brain waves slow down, the nervous system unwinds and a subtle euphoria often emerges. Even when practitioners don’t slip into the deepest stages, they still tend to emerge feeling rejuvenated.
We invite you to come in and experience for yourself! At minimum, you will discover a rich and deep state of relaxation that will energize you and transform your day!
